… and teachers expect less of them than some of their European counterparts.
This last sentence underpins everything my wife has been telling me over the last 20 months. She’s a primary school teacher, so she might as well know.
England ranked 21st, the worst of all European countries. When are the English politicians going to realise that you shouldn’t manage the education system as a business? All the targets threaten to take away the pleasure of learning. Children are spoon fed information, and mainly in those areas where they will be tested in the SATs. This also seriously jeopardises the individual child’s capabilities. Get rid of those league tables now!

Stacking up plates is not a mistake… but a child, barely 7 yrs old, doing this job is an offence in this country…Such sights are not so uncommon in Bangalore.
All rules formed against Child labor are very conveniently forgotten…hope India sees days when children are not made to work for a living…
